We are seeking a talented Web Design Developer to join our team on a project basis to lead both the redesign and implementation of our website, ensuring it is visually appealing, functionally robust, and aligned with our brand identity.
As a Web Design Developer at The Locavore, you will be responsible for both the design and development of our website. This role requires a unique blend of creativity and technical expertise to bring our vision to life. You will work closely with our editorial, marketing, and digital teams to create an engaging, user-friendly online presence that enhances The Locavore’s mission of ‘doing good through food.’ This project-based role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with the potential for extension based on project progress and future needs.
Key Responsibilities
Website Redesign and Implementation: Lead the entire process of redesigning and developing The Locavore’s website, ensuring it is both visually appealing and technically sound.
Brand Alignment: Ensure that the new website design and development align with The Locavore’s brand identity, mission, and values.
User Experience: Design and develop an intuitive and engaging user experience that enhances site navigation, accessibility, and responsiveness across devices.
Full-Stack Development: Implement the website redesign using front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and collaborate with back-end developers (if needed) to ensure seamless functionality.
Content Integration: Work closely with the editorial and marketing teams to integrate content effectively, ensuring that the site is easy to update and manage.
SEO Optimization: Incorporate SEO best practices into both the design and development stages to improve visibility and search engine ranking.
Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of the website to identify and fix any issues, ensuring a smooth and bug-free user experience.
Launch and Support: Oversee the launch of the new website, ensuring a smooth transition, and provide post-launch support as needed.
Candidate Attributes
• Design & Development Expertise: Proven experience in both web design and development, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
• UX/UI Focus: Deep understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles, combined with the technical skills to implement these designs.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and familiar with content management systems (such as WordPress). Knowledge of back-end development is a plus.
• Creativity & Problem-Solving: Ability to think creatively and solve technical challenges, bringing fresh ideas to the table while maintaining a focus on user needs and brand consistency.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including editorial, marketing, and digital teams.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring that all design and development elements are aligned with the project’s objectives and The Locavore’s brand identity.
• Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Project Duration: This is a project-based role expected to last 2-3 months, with the possibility of extension based on the project’s progress and future needs.
Compensation: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Details to be discussed during the interview process.
