Past LFC Meetups by Month

Each month, the Local Food Club explores a new theme that helps us dig deeper into food, memory, identity, and place. From seasonal cravings to personal questions, these meetups offer glimpses into what food means to people across the country. Our next LFC meetup is all set to happen on Sunday, 7th December 2025. May was the start of something special. Our first gathering saw dozens of Local Food Clubs meeting for the very first time—often among strangers, now bound by food. From shared introductions to heirloom recipes, this month was about showing up and knowing that there’s always a seat at the table.

In June, the Local Food Club turned inward with the theme What Does Local Mean to You?—an invitation to reflect on geography, memory, and belonging through food. Across meetups, people brought dishes with personal meaning and debated the idea of “local” from different corners of India.

The rains shaped our cravings in July, and Monsoon Foods became a way to honour comfort, seasonality, and the dishes that come alive when the skies open. From pakoras and pathrode to bhutta and warm kheer, the Local Food Club celebrated food that tastes best when it’s pouring outside.

August’s theme, Friendship & Food, reminded us how deeply food is tied to the bonds we share. At Local Food Club meetups, potlucks became expressions of trust and joy—whether among longtime friends or new companions discovering connection through a shared meal.

In September, the Local Food Club explored the theme Know Your Desi Ingredients, a celebration of ingredients native to the Indian subcontinent and the ways they’ve shaped our everyday cooking. Across meetups, members dug into the origins, adaptations, and stories of familiar staples.
