Who hasn’t experienced that pit in their stomach when an entire bunch of bananas suddenly ripens, then overripens, within a day or two?
Jayshree: I absolutely dread baking because it is a ‘science’ and you can’t use andaaza here. But went the extra mile today—no occasion except some overripe bananas that were about to be thrown out.
Moumita: Same here, terrified of baking.
Jayshree: Okay! Bakers to the rescue! The middle of the cake isn’t coming out clean. I mean… it’s still batter in the middle… What should I do now? There are multiple possibilities of being wrong at multiple steps.
Bitasta: Has the top browned too much? If yes, cover with foil and continue baking until a skewer comes out clean.
Jayshree: The top has cooked, but it isn’t too brown.
Bitasta: Also, banana bread takes way longer than normal cake loaves, so don’t worry too much! Let us know how it goes.
Jayshree: Thanks! The skewer came out clean. I’ve covered it, and kept it to cool down. Final results tomorrow!
