It was such a warm and welcoming experience! Kudos to Ann Mary J and Prema for making it flow smoothly. I loved the interesting food and the conversation. Big thanks and shoutout to The Locavore for bringing us all together.

Anupama

Doing anything for the first time is always the most difficult, but Ann Mary J & Prema John steered and pulled off the first LFC meetup effortlessly. Thank you for setting the momentum for such great camaraderie. It sure didn’t feel like the first time, and the talk, the food, and the general vibe was a real treasure!

What We Loved

Kappa Chammandi, a popular Kerala-style dish made with kappa (tapioca), coconut, green chillies, and shallots, pounded together for a coarse texture.

Watermelon rinds, repurposed into a savoury kathi roll filling!

A full-house at Thiruvananthapuram’s first LFC meetup!

MEET YOUR HOST

Ann Mary J is a pastry chef based in Thiruvananthapuram and runs a cloud kitchen named Elize patisserie. She was born and brought up in the city, and even though she calls herself a foodie, is a fairly picky eater. She now wishes to invest more time to learn about the desserts of her childhood, from local kitchens.

What does local mean to you?

It’s about sourcing ingredients from people I know, and seeing the faces and hearing the stories behind them.

It’s more than just an enduring food memory—it’s a loving, nostalgic one. I still remember when my father once messaged me while I was in class, saying, ‘Chicken noodles waiting for you at home.’

Kanji (rice and green gram porridge), with pickle or chutney.

Banana chips and ice cream together!

A bunch of food lovers coming together to create a recipe book full of unique recipes from our home kitchens.
