How did you first come to be involved with the Local Food Club?

Through fate! I was scrolling through Instagram when I stumbled upon the Local Food Club’s page (a shoutout to whoever is managing The Locavore‘s social media). I really connected with the message of the project, and signed up for the LFC within the next 10 minutes!

Probably the Kalathi Rose Milk stand in Mylapore. It is iconic for a reason, and reminds me of Chennai in all the best ways. The store is now surrounded by newer construction, yet stands as a reminder of the city’s past. I have such fond memories of grabbing a Paneer Soda from the stand, chugging it a little too fast, and then veggie-shopping with my mom.

I’m loving the push towards intimate gourmet experiences as opposed to the countless cafés and “aesthetic” restaurants everywhere. Give me a menu with eight items in a room of 10 people any day! One thing I’d like to see less of, however, is truffle oil.

Soy sauce! Whether it’s small-batch fermented or from the grocery store, I’ll always have it in stock.

The connection I find at the LFC is so special. The laughs, the sharing, and, most importantly, the conversations come so naturally to a group of total strangers. That’s the power of a shared passion!
