It takes a village to find the perfect cheese recommendation
Yukti: Guys, what cheese do you recommend for ooey-gooey melty sandwiches? Brand and type please. Sumana: Mozarella
Ayush: You can try Kaladi cheese.
Bani: Amul does a four-cheese grated mix that we use for our lasagna and pizzas—it’s pretty great. Kept in the freezer.
Setu: I love Flanders; there is a person who manufactures it in Himachal Pradesh, and is at Sunder Nursery [in Delhi] every Sunday. Steeply priced, but the cheese is absolutely amazing.
Sumana: Kumaoni Blessing. Yeah, have been using their smoked Gouda and some soft cheese. Steep pricing indeed.
Mayukh: Go Cheese has a four-cheese blend. Flanders Dairy has also opened a new retail store in Meherchand [in Delhi].
Paro: D’lecta mozzarella is the best mass-produced one I’ve had. Their cheddar is also pretty nice and sharp. Otherwise, Dairy Kraft is what I recommend (slightly more pricey though).
Vanya: All this cheese talk reminds me of when there used to be a tiny hole-in-the-wall cheese shop tucked away in Paharganj [in Delhi] right next to a cute clothing store called Bubbles. They used to have cheeses from all over, including Indian ones from Kodaikanal. Such good cheeses in a pre-Nature’s Basket era. I don’t know if anyone here knows what I’m talking about, lol.
