How did you first come to be involved with the Local Food Club?

Someone posted about it on a WhatsApp group of a book club I belong to. I had always dreamt of cooking, and serving people who love food as much as I do.

What’s your go-to local food spot in your city, and why does it matter to you?

Sakhawat. It’s a Lucknowi food joint I frequent when I crave kebabs.

One food trend you’re loving right now, and one you’re ready to see less of.

Loving it: Millets are finally getting their due. I make ragi and jowar bread, and now I can’t imagine my life without it.

See less of: Replacing sugar with jaggery in a dessert and calling it healthy. Jaggery has a different taste profile—have the jaggery ghee cake for the way it tastes, but please don’t call it healthy!

What’s something you’ll almost always find in your fridge?

Cucumber! I love it with my meals. I also munch on them when I am hungry between meals.

What’s an LFC moment or memory that you’ll never forget?

The meet-up in October last year. There were five of us, and we had amazing conversations. I still regularly hang out with three of the people who attended.

How do you imagine your Local Food Club growing and flourishing over time?

I want people from different cultures and backgrounds to come together and share each other’ s meals and traditions.
