WHERE WE MET
Niv Arts Centre in Sainik Farms is a vibrant creative hub and event space where workshops, exhibitions, performances, and community-led programmes bring together art, culture, and connection in a homey, inspiring setting.
It was very good! The conversations were very insightful regarding food production and localising our food consumption. Got to know a lot about organic farming and it was especially fun to know Swati’s process on making cheese (which we got to have as well, very yum)

What We Loved
We love it when attendees bring not just food, but objects with stories, like this recipe book by author Asma Khan called ‘Monsoon: Delicious Indian Recipes for Every Day and Season’
This maharashtrian style Tilachi Vadi, a sweet made with roasted sesame seeds and jaggery, pressed into firm squares and cut into neat pieces. Nutty, toasty, and warming, it’s especially popular during Makar Sankranti in January.
Chiwda Matar, a crunchy snack mix of flattened rice (poha) and fried green peas, tossed with turmeric, curry leaves, peanuts, and sometimes even a hint of sugar. Light yet addictive, it’s a teatime staple across western India.
