Become a Super Locavore

Be the person who brings your city together through food, community, and local action!

What is a Super Locavore?

Super Locavores (SLs) are city-level stewards of Local Food Clubs—they are community leaders who organise, host, and nurture monthly meet-ups.

The role of the Super Locavore exists to ensure that Local Food Clubs remain sustainable and deeply rooted in local communities. As a Super Locavore, you hold the space in your city: bringing people together through food, facilitating thoughtful conversations, and enabling those conversations to turn into meaningful local action.

At its core, this role is about creating the conditions for engagement, where people show up and feel invested not only in their local food systems but also in each other.

Why Become a Super Locavore?

Sustainable, Shared Leadership

Our rotating leadership model builds long-term ownership, prevents burnout, and keeps meet-ups fresh and dynamic. You’re not doing this alone—you’re stewarding a shared community.

Skill Building

Through sustained engagement with your city community, backed by ongoing support from The Locavore team, you will develop skills in:

  • Event planning and facilitation

  • Community building and coordination

  • Digital storytelling and documentation

Meaningful Community Engagement

You will curate and support community-led engagements such as:

  • Food walks and local experiences

  • Producer visits and conversations

  • Theme-based discussions and actions tailored to your city

Storytelling and Impact Amplification

By documenting meet-ups and activities, you help showcase your city’s work, attract new members, and inspire other city chapters to grow.

As a Super Locavore, you will hold the purpose of the community locally while acting as the bridge between city members and The Locavore team.

Stewarding Your City Chapter

  • One Super Locavore per city (with exceptions such as Mumbai having North and South chapters)
  • Duration: 2 quarters (6 months)
  • Time Commitment:  6–8 hours per week, with some months requiring more time, especially around meet-ups or special engagements. This includes planning, coordination, WhatsApp group engagement, and check-ins with The Locavore team.
  • This role includes an honorarium.

If you care deeply about local food systems, enjoy bringing people together, and are excited to steward a community with intention—this role is for you!
