How to RSVP for an LFC Meetup

Started by The Locavore, the Local Food Club (LFC) is a movement of food-loving communities across India—where people come together on the first Sunday of every month to share meals, swap stories, and celebrate the rich, regional diversity of our food traditions.

A nationwide initiative that’s entirely volunteer-led, each meetup is informal, free, and open to everyone. Every LFC also has a vibrant WhatsApp group—your home base to stay connected between potlucks, exchange ideas and recipes, and plan what comes next with your local crew.

This page will break down how you can RSVP to attend these free monthly meetups.

The RSVP form goes live ten days before the meetup and is shared on the WhatsApp groups by Team Locavore. It’s also embedded in our monthly RSVP newsletter. You’ll be directed to the form by clicking the green button at the bottom of the newsletter.

Scroll to the bottom of our monthly RSVP newsletter, and click on the green button to fill out the RSVP form.

How to RSVP if you’re not an LFC member yet

1. Sign up as an LFC member first. [Click here to sign up]
After filling out the form, you’ll see links to join 35+ LFC WhatsApp groups. Scroll until you find your city group. Remember to join the LFC Central group as well for all updates.

The post-form response contains links to join 20+ WhatsApp groups. Keep scrolling till you find your city group.

2. Check your inbox. You’ll also receive an automated email with the WhatsApp links.

The automated response will contain links to join 20+ WhatsApp groups. Keep scrolling till you find your city group.

3. Click one of the WhatsApp links to join your city group or any of our themed WhatsApp groups, and a member of our team will approve your request.

4. Keep group notifications on to be the first to know when the RSVP form will be shared, along with details about the next meetup.

5. Ten days prior to the meetup, the RSVP page will be shared across all active LFC city groups. Click the link to open the newsletter.

6. Then scroll through the newsletter, and click the green button which will finally take you to the main RSVP form.

7. Here, you can add all the relevant details, especially which location or city you’d like to RSVP for.

(Left to right) The beginning of the form shares crucial instructions, and information on the timings and areas for LFC meetups. You have to mandatorily fill out what’s on the form, and select which city you’d like to RSVP for from the dropdown menu.

8. If you’ve got a spot on the RSVP list, then the post-form response will look like this.

This is what the post-form response looks like, if you’ve got a spot on the final guest list.

9. Now, kick back, relax, and wait until the venue information is shared by Team Locavore a few days before the meetup. In the meantime, you can go through our Potluck Guidelines to know what to bring to the meetup.

10. If you couldn’t find your city on the RSVP list, you’d have selected “I don’t see my city on the list.” and then type your city on the next screen. After that, you’ll have received an automatic email confirming your response—it will clearly show once you scroll to the bottom that you’ve selected the option of I don’t see my city on the list. Please take me to the Waitlist section which means that you’ve added to the waitlist.

Please note: Being on the waitlist does not guarantee a spot. We’ll try our best to accommodate you, but if you don’t hear from us by the evening of the Friday before the meetup (Eg. 3rd October for a 5th October meetup), it means we couldn’t confirm your spot this time. Don’t worry—we’ll certainly keep you in the loop for future meetups!

How to cancel your spot after you RSVPed

We understand that last-minute cancellations arise due to unforeseen circumstances. Having said that, we want to ensure that the cancellation process is smooth and efficient so that someone from the waitlist can take your place.

If you cancel your spot five or more days before the meetup, you’ll still be able to RSVP for the next meetup. However, if you cancel your spot with less than five days notice or don’t show up to the meetup, then you will not be able to attend the next month’s meetup. This rule isn’t to penalise our members but rather to ensure that everyone in our rapidly growing community gets a chance to attend the meetups. We’re a small but mighty team who work hard every month to expand the meetups across different locations in the same cities, or even new cities, across the country. In the process, we can unfortunately only offer limited RSVP spots to our community members. This rule allows us to democratise access to attending the meetups in active LFC cities.

Here’s how you’re supposed to let Team Locavore know that you can’t make it to the meetup:

  • Please message The Locavore Admin number (9867684047) directly, along with your city name and meetup location.
  • Please refrain from messaging the host, group admins, volunteers, or other community members about your cancellation.
  • Sending it directly to the Locavore Admin ensures our team can keep proper track of responses.
  • And, as always, please be kind—there are real people working behind the scenes to make these gatherings possible.

We hope to see you at the next Local Food Club meetup! There’s always a seat at the table.
