In a warming world, finding effective ways to eat healthy and sustainably can seem daunting. What does organic even mean? Are millets better for me and the planet than rice? Does it really matter if I eat locally?
Let’s face it. The food systems in India are vast, messy and complex, and to be able to make responsible food choices is by no means an easy task. And this is where we come in. The Locavore aims to offer a deeper understanding of where our food comes from, who grows it, and the impact of our food choices as consumers.
And as much as every small action counts, we believe that it is only through coming together as a community that we can create enduring change. There is strength in numbers, and besides, food always tastes better in the right company. With a deep focus on the impact of food on people and the environment, The Locavore is committed to learning, unlearning, sharing this knowledge with our larger community, and doing good through food.
Join us as we gather diverse stories, wade through local markets and farms, experiment with flavours, have conversations with experts from across fields, and get our hands dirty. Please remember to come with a massive appetite, and leave your forks behind. We eat with our hands.
