Unlike most red rice varieties that are thicker and have a bolder appearance, Sidda Sanna has slender long grains with a pleasant aroma and a nutty taste.

Its bran is lighter in comparison to other red rice varieties making it easier to cook, especially when it comes to daily use.
Use it in everyday preparations like dosai, akki roti, idiyappam, or snacks like murukku. It can also be used in small amounts to thicken sauces, curries, or stews, or mixed into batters for added texture and flavour.
Spirit of the Earth is a social enterprise that conserves indigenous rice varieties and cultivates artisanal heritage rice. With a seed bank conserving more than 260 varieties of indigenous seeds from across India, they intend to revive the use of heritage rice, and bring it back to urban kitchens.
