A blend of Arabica and Robusta beans with 20% chicory, this is Black Baza’s take on traditional South Indian filter kaapi.

You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.

The blend of dark roasted coffee and roasted chicory root, adds a slightly nutty, earthy depth and a hint of bitterness.

Brew it as a traditional South Indian filter coffee if you can—slow-dripped decoction, finished with hot milk and a touch of jaggery or sugar. If you don’t have a filter, it also works well in a French press or moka pot. However you brew it, this is a fuller-bodied cup that holds up well to milk.

Black Baza works with smallholder coffee growers—in BR Hills, the Nilgiris, Palani Hills, and Wayanad—who cultivate coffee in harmony with nature, under the shade of native trees. Their approach focuses on conserving biodiversity and wildlife corridors, and ensuring that the growers are paid fairly.
