At the Locavore, we really enjoy organising and attending our events. In part because we put so much thought and effort into every little detail and it’s a delight to see them come to life. But also because they’re so, so fun. We approach events with a strong sense of purpose and collaboration; each event is made and strengthened by the labour of the people we work with, whether that’s our project partners, our producer partners, communities we work with from all over India, or our fellow Locavores. Because what good is an event if it doesn’t strengthen connections between people?
The Locavore events, we hope, will leave you thinking of food in new and interesting ways. We believe they’re an avenue for us to showcase what we’re constantly learning about food systems in India through accessible means, and with joy and celebration. Through initiatives such as cooking with locally foraged ingredients at a festival in Shillong, or brewing beers with heirloom rice and millets, as well as engagements such as interactive speaker sessions on the millet landscape in India, and trivia pub quizzes, we’re committed to showing you all the different and unique ways to interact with food.
