Wild Forest Honey
By ABANI
ORIGIN: Daribokgre, Meghalaya
₹320 | 200 G
Wild honey from Apis dorsata bees sourced directly from local farmers in the East Garo Hills.
You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.
It has a light caramel colour and subtle floral notes reminiscent of the forests of Nokrek Biosphere Reserve.
Its flavour can vary slightly with the forest it comes from, it’s worth trying it in small amounts first and letting that guide how you use it. Once you’re familiar with the flavour, you can have its own or stir it into warm water, tea, or milk. It also works well drizzled over breakfast bowls, yoghurt, or toast, or used to sweeten simple desserts.
ABANI, which means ‘of the farm’ in Garo, mobilises farmers across the Garo Hills, Khasi Hills, and the Marngar tribe village into small farmer producer groups, helping them turn their produce into value-added products and establishing market linkages.
