Idukki Green Cardamom

ORIGIN: Idukki, Kerala

₹599  |  100 G

Green cardamom pods with citrusy, fresh undertones, sourced from the edge of Kerala's Periyar Tiger Reserve in Idukki where they are grown, cultivated, and harvested.

You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.

Its unique lemon and mint undertones make it a perfect pick for Indian sweets. To extract as much flavour as possible, peel the pods and grind the seeds. The pods can be used to boil into masala chai.

With a circumference of over 8 mm, this cardamom has unique lemon and mint undertones. Given that the cardamom pods are very brittle, they are all picked and sorted by hand.

Nilgiri Marten Spices sources and retails the best quality of 11 of the 52 spices as recognised by the Spice Board of India. Each spice sold is cultivated, harvested, and processed in the same region: for instance, Lakadong turmeric from the Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, green cardamom from Idukki in Kerala, and Raja Mircha from Dimapur in Nagaland. These regions offer a conducive environment for the spice in terms of climate, soil, and altitude.
