Camel Milk Halluomi Cheese

ORIGIN: Bajju, Rajasthan

599  |  200 G

Slightly saltier than conventional halloumi which is made from cow milk, this camel milk halloumi has a mildly stretchy texture, with a nutty, carmelised flavour when grilled.

You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.

The milk used to make this halloumi is sourced directly from traditional pastoralists who have been rearing camels for generations, and ensure that they receive high-quality feed and fodder.

Slice and pan-fry or grill until golden, then have it on its own or as part of a simple meal. It works well in sandwiches, wraps, or salads, or paired with something fresh like citrus or a touch of honey to balance its tang. It has a slightly firmer, saltier profile than conventional halloumi and develops a nutty, caramelised flavour when cooked.

Bahula Naturals addresses systemic challenges of decline in pastoralism by providing pastoral communities with adequate resources to rear camels, and ensuring that they receive a fair price for their produce.
