Plantain Jam
By Sheilas
ORIGIN: Mundakayam, Kerala
₹235 | 370 G
A traditional Kerala recipe, this plantain jam is made from the juice of palayam kodan bananas sourced from Sheilas’ own farm in Mundakayam.
You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.
It has a rich caramel flavour with a mild citrus tang.
Have it the way you would any jam, spread over toast or alongside parathas for a simple, familiar pairing. It also works well with peanut butter on bread, or added to a breakfast plate where a slightly deeper, caramelised sweetness fits in easily. This is one you can keep returning to when you want something nostalgic and comforting.
Sheilas makes preserves and pickles from produce grown in and around Mundakayam in the Kottayam district in Kerala. In order to maintain quality and consistency, Sheilas focuses on small-batch production. Their batches are limited to around 70 bottles at a time, and all production is done manually.
