A bold, savoury spice blend made with black pepper, pigeon peas, tamarind and chillies, specifically designed for making a deeply aromatic pepper kuzhambu.

You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.

Use the podi as the base for milagu kuzhambu, the peppery, tamarind-forward Tamil gravy traditionally eaten with hot rice. Finish with a spoonful of ghee if you like, and serve alongside a simple vegetable poriyal or appalam.

This podi is made with organically grown black pepper sourced from the Kaani tribe in Tamil Nadu’s Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, giving the blend a warm, aromatic heat that is rounded out by tamarind, chillies and pigeon peas. We like that it brings the depth of a traditional pepper kuzhambu together in a convenient, well-balanced blend.
