Projects Social Media Associate

At The Locavore, we believe that food can be a catalyst for systemic change. As a Projects Social Media Associate, you will play a key role in helping us communicate the heart of our campaigns, partnerships, and on-ground work across India. You’ll work closely with our Projects and Digital Media teams to plan, create, and publish content across social platforms for specific initiatives—ranging from the Local Food Club and the Millet Revival Project to immersive experiences and regional collaborations.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety, is excited to dig into unique formats for different projects, and can help bring big ideas to life with clarity and consistency on digital platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project-Based Social Media Management
- Manage and execute project-specific social media calendars across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube for flagship initiatives like the Local Food Club, Millet Revival Project, Mumbai Koli Project, and more.
- Understand each project’s goals, voice, and timeline, and translate that into platform-appropriate content.
Content Creation & Curation
- Collaborate with project leads, editorial, and marketing teams to write captions, prepare visuals, and suggest formats (reels, stories, carousels, posts).
- Occasionally liaise with volunteers, collaborators, and community members to amplify their content and voices.
Platform Execution & Scheduling
- Use publishing tools to draft, schedule, and post content in real-time or in advance.
- Monitor performance and coordinate with the team to re-share, boost, or adapt posts across platforms.
On-Ground & Event Support
- Support live coverage of events, potlucks, or public programs when needed (remotely or on-site), including capturing stories, posting real-time updates, or coordinating content with team members present.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain clear documentation for each project’s content output, including asset libraries, copy decks, and post logs.
- Contribute to basic post-performance tracking and wrap reports when needed.
Candidate Attributes
- Passionate about food systems, sustainability, and using storytelling to create change
- Comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously with different tones, audiences, and formats
- Proactive, highly organised, and collaborative
- Skilled in writing copy that is both informative and engaging
- Familiar with social media tools (Instagram, Meta Suite, Creator Studio, etc.)
- Bonus: Familiarity with Canva, simple design tools, or basic video editing
