Local Food Club Copywriter
Role: LFC Copywriter
Reports to: Projects Editor/Assistant Projects Editor
Location: Remote (India-based)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About The Local Food Club
The Local Food Club (LFC) is a nationwide, community-led movement by The Locavore that brings people together around food, memory, sustainability, and collective action. Across cities, volunteer hosts organise potlucks, conversations, and grassroots initiatives that reimagine how we engage with local food systems.
As LFC expands, documenting its growth, preserving its stories, and ensuring clarity in communication are essential. The LFC Copywriter will help shape and steward the written voice of the movement — transforming community energy into thoughtful, structured, and inspiring narratives.
Role Overview
This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, community engagement, and editorial documentation. The LFC Copywriter will lead documentation and written communication for the Local Food Club across platforms.
You will work closely with hosts, Superlocavores, and members to capture real stories from across cities — documenting monthly meetups, recipes, events, and grassroots experiments — and translating them into structured, accessible content for our website, newsletters, and digital platforms.
This is both a writing and documentation role. It requires sensitivity to community nuance, clarity in instructional writing, and strong organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Meetup Documentation
- Attend monthly LFC meetups in various cities to acquire a clear understanding of what is happening on the ground
- Document monthly LFC meetups across cities and towns, working closely with hosts and Superlocavores to capture stories, reflections, learnings, and themes
- Capture conversations from WhatsApp groups in creative ways in order to document how members of the community interact with one another. See how we have been doing this through Oh! The Things We’ve Seen
- Document LFC events, engagements, and city-specific initiatives in written format, along with photographs
- Identify and elevate meaningful member stories that reflect LFC’s evolving culture
Recipe & Food Story Documentation
- Source recipes shared during meetups and by members
- Document recipes clearly and accurately, including context, memory, and ingredient narratives where relevant
- Ensure recipes reflect regional specificity and are aligned with LFC’s values around local and seasonal food.
Website Content & Maintenance
- Draft and update instructional pages across various sections of the LFC website (e.g., How to Host, Community Guidelines, Join a Chapter, Monthly Themes)
- Maintain and upload stories, reports, recipes, and updates on the website using WordPress
- Ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and structure across LFC pages
- Keep website content current as themes, toolkits, and processes evolve
Theme-Related Writing
- Develop written content aligned with monthly or quarterly LFC themes
- Craft narrative introductions and contextual essays that deepen engagement with themes
- Support city hosts with clear written prompts or theme framing when needed
Newsletter & Movement Storytelling
- Write LFC-focused newsletters that spotlight cities, members, and impact
- Develop reflective long-form pieces that articulate LFC’s evolution and cultural relevance
- Support campaign storytelling for special initiatives
Social & Platform Collaboration
- Help identify interesting stories from the community to share across platforms
- Collaborate with the Digital Media team to translate long-form documentation into engaging short-form copy
- Ensure alignment of voice across Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and email communications
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work
The LFC Copywriter will work closely with:
LFC Project Lead
- Align written content with strategic direction and long-term movement goals
- Support documentation for reports, milestone summaries, and partner communication where needed
- Translate evolving LFC systems and processes into clear, accessible written formats
Community & Events Lead
- Coordinate on documenting city meetups, events, and community-led engagements
- Capture stories, feedback, and learnings from on-ground interactions
- Ensure host communication materials are clear, supportive, and aligned with LFC’s ethos.
- Identify stories and recipes from The Locavore’s archive to share in a timely manner with LFC’s growing online community
This role requires regular communication with the LFC core team to ensure coherence between strategy, community experience, and public storytelling.

- Ability to structure instructional content clearly and accessibly
- Strong listening skills — able to capture stories from informal conversations
- Comfortable documenting recipes accurately and respectfully

- Proficiency in WordPress preferred
Growth Opportunities
- Shape the collective voice of a growing grassroots food movement
