Made from neera—or the sap extracted from coconut trees on Farm Made Foods’ farms—their coconut sugar has a deep caramel flavour.

You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.

Farm Made Foods collects the sap in an ice box which is protected by a food-grade cover. This method controls the temperature, prevents any fermentation, and shields the sap against dust and insect contamination. The sap is then made into natural coconut sugar by local women employed at their production unit. 

Use it in place of regular sugar where you want a deeper, slightly caramel-like sweetness, especially in tea, coffee, porridges, or simple desserts. It also works well in baking, laddoos, chutneys, or marinades, but start with a little and adjust as you go since the flavour is more reminiscent of jaggery or molasses.

Farm Made Foods is run by third-generation poultry farmers and fifth-generation coconut farmers. For them, it is important that the hens, given the social birds they are, are able to move around freely, as opposed to always being in an enclosed space.
