Made from neera—or the sap extracted from coconut trees on Farm Made Foods’ farms—their coconut sugar has a deep caramel flavour.
You’ll be buying directly from the producer. The Locavore does not handle orders, payments, delivery, or customer support.
Use it in place of regular sugar where you want a deeper, slightly caramel-like sweetness, especially in tea, coffee, porridges, or simple desserts. It also works well in baked goods, laddoos, chutneys, or marinades, but start with a little and adjust as you go since the flavour is more reminiscent of jaggery or molasses.
Farm Made Foods collects the sap in an ice box which is protected by a food-grade cover. This method controls the temperature, prevents any fermentation, and shields the sap against dust and insect contamination. The sap is then made into natural coconut sugar by local women employed at their production unit.
Farm Made Foods is run by third-generation poultry farmers and fifth-generation coconut farmers. Coconut trees offer large, shaded areas, and a year-round stable temperature for hens to move around freely, as opposed to always being in an enclosed space.
